The (DREADED) Jobsite Productivity Check-In
"JUST CHECKING IN..."

If you're a leader and just "dropping in" to jumpstart productivity, think twice about how it'll be received.
My team was struggling to finish the interior demolition of a data center.
We were brought in as a specialty trade for one of my favorite General Contractors.
I figured it would be a breeze since we are usually working directly with owners and tenants, who tend to move the goalposts on us.
Our scope was about 1/5 of what it usually is, but the delays were piling up.
I told my foreman I was going to help out on the overnight shift, strictly as labor.
"Don't defer to me for any answers, as I'm only here for the night. This is your site."
3 hours into the shift, the owners rep and property manager came in and started barking at the mechanical foreman and his team.
Talk about taking the wind out of their sails!
What was a 10 minute drop-in killed productivity for the rest of the night.
I overheard two of their best guys talking about looking for a new gig because they don't need this nonsense while working an overnight shift that wrecks their personal schedule.
When onsite, we need to be careful about our massaging. Be direct, but also be mindful of how your messaging will be received by your field teams.
PS. I apologized to my team for not asking about the dynamic with the client. I need to be better moving forward. 💯
Construction Data Made Easy. We provide a solution to avoid costly downtime, delays and rework caused by a lack of access to project information.
Our budget-friendly and intuitive platform allows the ability to create construction-oriented QR Codes that instantaneously connect Office-to-Field.
Each QR Code distributes project data directly at point-of-need, without having to stop work or burden a Project Manager.
